Employee Relations Manager

Detail of Role: Full Time, Permanent. This role will be bases in Madrid with wide national and international travel.
Role Reports to: P&C Executive Iberia. Team: People & Culture, Retail Team.
Key Relationships: People & Culture Executive, Country Leader, Area Managers, People & Culture Colleagues
Purpose of this Role is: As an Employee Relations Manager you will advise on caseloads of employee relations matters. You will work with the broader People & Culture team to develop and drive initiatives - employment practice improvement, training, metrics/trending and HR analytics. Additionally, you will provide strategy, technical expertise and direction to the People & Culture Executive and Country leader about management practices, employee and organization effectiveness.
You will evaluate and review employment decisions in response to colleague concerns, advise and influence all levels of management on employee relations decisions such as business conduct, terminations, and HR policies, guidelines and practices, recommending and developing appropriate remediation.
You will provide day-to-day advice and counsel the People & Culture Executive and the P&C community on labour relations matters including, performance, discipline and grievance resolution, and other related labour and employment matters.
Leading negotiations with Employee representative bodies on information and consultation and negotiating collective agreements will be part of this role.
Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience:
  • Experience in managing ER function in first tier law Firms or multinational companies.
  • Experience in managing a team.
  • Solid experience managing complex employment issues.
  • Strong influencing skills.
  • Confidentiality.
  • Strong problem – solving abilities and tenacity to build solutions from scratch.
  • Flexibility to be proactive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • Comfortable with travel, including short-term assignments based upon business requirements.
  • Strong negotiations skills.
  • Experience in complex union environments.
  • Degree in law, master’s degree in employment law would be a plus.
  • Advance level of English
